During Eye Donation Month each November, we seek to:
- Raise awareness about the importance of cornea donation.
- Honor the gift of sight given by generous donors and their families.
- Celebrate the restored sight of cornea recipients.
- Educate and encourage individuals to register as donors.
Advancing Sight Network, based in Birmingham, Alabama, is pleased to announce that for the first time not one, but two stories connected to our organization are being featured nationally during Eye Donation Month. Danny Rivers is a double-cornea transplant recipient and a living kidney donor. Josie Evans, wife of Julian Evans, is a donor family member, as Julian was a cornea donor. Danny and Josie are both from Alabama, and have been strong supporters of Advancing Sight Network.

Julian Evans dedicated his life to serving his country and his family. Even after his passing, he served others by donating his corneas so two people could receive the gift of restored eyesight. We celebrate Veterans who never stop serving others.

A clear night and a sky full of stars. It’s something those with excellent vision might take for granted, something we all expect to be able to see as the sun sets each night. But for thousands of individuals struggling with vision loss, like Kym’s mom, Betty, that expectation isn’t possible.
