A Recovery Technician at Advancing Sight Network is an integral part of our work to restore sight and is responsible for the surgical recovery of safe and viable eye tissue to be used in transplants, research, and education.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Surgical recovery of transplant and research donor tissue.
  • Review of donor medical charts.
  • Packaging and shipping eye tissue.
  • Performing minimal laboratory duties as necessary.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with these qualifications:

    • Prior medical experience or life sciences education is preferred.
    • Ability to interface with peers and hospital personnel.
    • Ability to work on-call shifts during holidays, weekends, and nights.
    • A valid driver’s license.

Quality Assurance Specialist (Full-Time) Southern Eye Bank-Metairie, Louisiana

Advancing Sight Network seeks a detail-oriented individual with excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to quickly identify potential issues, and develop effective solutions accordingly.

The QA Coordinator is responsible for conducting regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing chart audits and monthly chart statistics.
  • Ensuring laboratory and maintenance parameters are completed and appropriately documented.
  • Conducting random reviews of active, in-process donor charts, for compliance prior to distribution.
  • Assisting in writing, implementation, and review/revision of the Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
  • Managing communications to the EBAA (Eye Banking Association of America) and/or the FDA for recalls, and producing Biological Product Deviation Reports (BPDR’s), as required.
  • Assisting in the writing, implementation, and review/revision of the Standard Operating Procedures Manual.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with these qualifications:

    • Working knowledge of, and the ability to implement the FDA’s Good Tissue Practices (GTP’s) and the agency’s rules and regulations, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of EBAA medical standards.
    • Adherence to principles of good laboratory practices and the standard operating procedures of Advancing Sight Network.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively interact with peers and hospital personnel.
    • RN or BS degree is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
    • This position may require Saturday and/or Sunday work and might include evening/night shift work.
    • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
