It’s not lost on Kris Childs that being the owner of an optical shop and suffering through vision loss is a nod to fate. In fact, the very same year Kris opened iiis Optical Shop, she contracted shingles, causing impaired vision and pain in her eyes.

Dave Smith had an instinct for gift giving. He always knew just what to get someone to put a smile on their face or to let them know he was thinking of them. It’s no wonder that, even with his sudden passing at the age of 50, he was still able to change someone’s life with a gift like no other.

Doug Reid has always loved racing through life – literally and figuratively – enjoying every second. He refused to let anything hold him back, following his ambition to competitive racing while also working fulltime. At just 18, Doug suffered a traumatic injury while working in a machine shop, leaving him blind in his right eye. His doctor told him that he would never see in that eye again. It wasn’t until many years later, in 2014, when his vision began to deteriorate in his one good eye, that he realized the impact of being an organ, eye and tissue donor.

Miriam Fauth is a loving and devoted mother, but that’s not all she is. In homeschooling her kids, she also serves as teacher, coach and bus driver. This lifestyle of love and care has always been her focus and her passion, but her declining vision put all of that in jeopardy.
